STEP 1

Confirm Your Eligibility

To be considered for the program, the applicant must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be an Essex County, NJ Resident
  • Demonstrate Financial Need
  • Be an Essex County High School Student in 11th grade
  • Have a 2.75 GPA or Above
  • Commit to a 3-Week Summer Academy

STEP 2

Complete Online Application

Create an account and begin! You can save your progress on the application and login to the system at anytime until the application deadline. To complete this application, you will need to supply the following:

Transcript
Upload* a copy of your high school transcript that includes your grades from 9th and 10th grade. Include a list of your currently enrolled 11th grade classes, as available.
Verification of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status
Upload* one of the seven required verification documents listed here.
Financial Verification
Upload* a tax return (Form 1040/1040EZ/1040A) from 2016 for both biologicial parents or guardian(s).
Essay

Type a response to the essay questions below:

Q1: In no more than 650 words, recount an incident or time when you experienced a failure or a personal challenge. What lessons did you learn? What would you do differently if a similar incident arose?

Q2: In no more than 300 words or in a 2 minute video, answer the following question: What do you envision for your future and how will going to college help you in that path?

Input background information about you, your family, and your school. The family section may require that you consult your parent/guardian.
Photo
Upload* a full-faced photo. All photos should only include you and be properly focused. Please refer to the College Board’s photo guidelines as a helpful reference.

STEP 3

Complete An Interview

Some candidates will be invited to interview. Individuals who are asked to interview are expected to make themselves available on any of the dates below.

If an applicant is selected for an interview, he/she will be notified at least 3 days before the interview date.

*Failure to attend an interview will forfeit consideration for program participation.
